Now here's a new arrival to Occhiali, and New Zealand, that the ladies at Occhiali are very very excited about: AGENT PROVOCATEUR
In collaboration with Linda Farrow, the luxury lingerie brand Agent Provocateur has just launched a collection of sunglasses. Each frame in the beautifully made women's collection bears a cheeky name like "Desire Me", "Fly Me", and my personal favorite, the "Worship Me".
The packaging and case is also to die for.
The sunglasses range is priced a $575 but be in quick as the stock is limited.

COMING SOON: Kirk Originals 2012
The Eyewear Trade show that we wish we were going to is Silmo, in Paris, next week. One of our favourite brands Kirk Originals is launching their new Beam and Sunbeam Collections.
We've just had a sneak preview of these beautiful frames, that keep with the trend of bigger eyewear.
We've always loved the craftsmanship behind this range and it seems EyeWearGlasses is a fan too as they had this to say:
"These specs look amazing; but technically they're brilliant too. They're made of acrylic. Kirk Originals has been working on these for more than a decade and while the UK designer has been using acrylic for a while now in the temples, this is the first time it's made the front of this material too."
We can't wait to see them in this part of the world.

EYE HEALTH: Not Rubbing Your Contact Lenses?
If you wear monthly or fortnightly disposable contact lenses optometrists have long recommended you rub them to clean them to remove the debris that sticks to them during the day. This helps keep them cleaner so you see better and also have healthier eyes.
A recent study reported on comparative anti-microbial efficacy of three regimens using three different "No-Rub" multipurpose solutions on three different soft lens materials. The three regimens were: 1) no rub, no rinse; 2) rinse only; and 3) rub and rinse. Not surprisingly, the rub and rinse regimen was most effective for all solutions and all materials.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: Midnight Youth at the Power Station

NEW ARRIVALS: Etnia Barcelona Optical Eyewear
The next new arrival I want to talk about is Etnia Barcelona.
This independent brand of eyewear collection focuses on color, design, comfort, value and quality. What differentiates them from other collections are the unique acetate colors and textures they have created.
The Etnia acetate is produced by mixing pulverized cotton and acetone to create a paste, color is added using various pressing processes, then cured, cut and laminated, then set in molds where they are pressed into block form and aged for a period of 12 weeks. When these blocks are removed from the molds they are cut to the desired measurement. From these acetate sheets we make our plastic frame fronts and temples. (Acetate is the only plastic that is not petroleum base it is mostly cotton based)

This is a newbie for Occhiali as our head buyer Lynne fell in love with this interesting eyewear collection that pushes the boundaries of eyewear.
The Cheap Monday "Open Your Third Eye" Collection is a unisex collection that pulls “style of the 50’s, the shameless 60’s & the colorful 70’s.” together. The colors pull these far from the classic but do bring something fresh to the eyewear market.
